Four Module Complete Technical Training
This four-module course will cover service, installation and repair of Suburban furnaces, water heaters and cooking appliances. The course is ideal for both the Service Technician and OEM. Class topics will include problem diagnosis and repair, an overview of parts and components, how they work, how they work together, and installation do’s and don’ts.
Module 1: Suburban Cooking Appliances – 1 hours
Module 1 will cover Suburban cooking appliances, such as ranges, slide-ins, drop-ins, griddles and induction cook tops. Topics will include electrical and mechanical systems, and how they work to create a high-performance appliance. Attendees will gain knowledge needed to quickly and effectively diagnose and ultimately repair a wide range of problems both common and unusual. The course will also provide tips for RV owner, so the technician can advise on how to prevent and recognize problems in the future.
Module 2: Suburban Water Heaters – 2.0 hours
This course will provide knowledge on how tank water heaters work, what they look like inside and out, plus electrical and mechanical systems. The course will examine several heater units and their differences for the purpose of rapid and effective diagnostics. Other topics will include unit replacement, cleaning, general maintenance, how to test, read serial numbers, wiring and installation, component identification, and repair. In addition, the course will detail best practices and installation do’s and don’ts.
Module 3: Furnaces – 3.0 hours
Topics covered will include the furnace product families, product history, the 3 simple steps of operation and how these steps allow the technician to quickly and accurately locate and diagnose problems. Also covered will be a range of testing and diagnostic devices and what they can do to aid the technician. The course will discuss simple and effective bench tests, and the 6 main components of a furnace. With a wide range of products currently deployed in RV’s, the course will cover which furnaces will effectively and safely replace commonly encountered old or outdated units.
Module 4: On Demand Hot Water Systems – 1.5 hours
This course will focus on the Suburban IW60 on-demand water heater. Like the other Suburban courses, Module 4 will provide an understanding of the internal workings, steps for diagnostics, and repair. Additionally, error and fault codes will be discussed, and how they aid in repairs. The course will provide an understanding of how and when to use the IW60 to replace old and no longer manufactured tank heating units, including non-Suburban brands.
Wall thermostats and Zone Control – 1.5 hours
This comprehensive course covers the complete line of Coleman-Mach Climate Control Thermostats, including units still in service, yet out of production. Topics will include trouble shooting, diagnostic and repair, as well as recognizing when to replace. Then the course will instruct on recognizing when the problem lies in the thermostat, or when it lies elsewhere in the climate control system.
When needing replacing, this class will inform as to the best of replacement options. Also, which is the best thermostat for use in new unit installations. The differences between thermostats will be reviewed, and how correctly match the thermostat to meet the system and RC owners’ needs, and which have the best features for their application.
Basic AC Training – 1.5 hours
This is a basic level course covering the fundamentals of Coleman-Mach air conditioner diagnostics and repair. We will begin with an overview of AC components, internal structure and general operation of an air conditioner cooling circuit. The course will instruct on basic trouble shooting, problem identification and how to determine when to repair and when a replacement unit is the best option. If the unit needs replacing, the course determining the Coleman-Mach unit to best replace an outdated model. Additionally, the course will detail where to find an AC model number and a what model numbers reflect when selecting a replacement.
Four Module Certified Technical Training
This four-module, 9-hour course will provide a complete understanding of the working, installation and service of the range of Aqua-Hot hydronic heat and hot water systems. Upon completion of the course, attendees will graduate as Certified Aqua-Hot Technicians, and will receive RVTI hours. The course is designed for both the Service Technician and OEM. Each module will conclude with an exam.
Module 1 - Product and Operation Training - 3.0 Hours
The basic level module, Module 1 curriculum will provide a thorough overview of the fundamentals of Aqua-Hot hydronic systems. It will include an in-depth examination of all components and how they work together to safely and efficiently create heat and hot water for the coach. Best practices in system installation, set up and plumbing will be also discussed. General troubleshooting and diagnosis will be discussed. This module will conclude with an exam on the topics covered.
Module 2 – Burner Training – 3.0 Hours
Module 2 curriculum will contain complete training on the three burner types used in Aqua-Hot systems. The first portion of the module will be spent on the diesel burner system. Next the Aqua-Hot propane burner system will be studied. Topics of discussion will include the internal workings of the complete systems, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of the combustion component of the system. Module 2 will conclude with an exam on the burner types and topics covered to ensure a comprehensive understanding.
Module 3 - Annual Maintenance Training - 2 Hours
Annual maintenance is a key aspect in the longevity and proper function of the Aqua-Hot hydronic systems. The curriculum in Module 3 will cover the range of annual preventive maintenance recommended for Aqua-Hot systems. Best practices will be discussed, the performance of preventive maintenance and how to proactively conduct a thorough examination of the system to ensure optimal performance and a problem free season for the RV owner. Module 3 will conclude with an exam on topics covered.
Module 4 – Maximizing the Benefits of Your Aqua-Hot Certified Technician Status – 1 hour
Module 4 will wrap up the coursework and take some time to review and ensure all participants have questions answered. The benefits of becoming an Aqua-Hot Certified Technician will be covered, including product discounts, how the certification stays with you should you change employers, the package of items you will be receiving. Also covered will be the promotion assistance provided by Aqua-Hot for Certified Technicians. The training will culminate with a final exam, the passing of which will count toward the RVTI credit.
